He found himself gazing at her - he had been gazing at her for some time now, he realized, and could not stop - caught unexpectedly by the way the patches of black and rose in her coat mingled and interlocked. Not odd, beautiful. The suddenness of his seeing it surprised him. Why had he never noticed it before?

This one of my favorite literary heroes, Tek! She's from the Firebringer Trilogy by Meredith Ann Pierce, which basically rules the world. SERIOUSLY. Love the books to death.

I've always though the scene in the milkwood grove was like the beginning of Tek and Jan's relationship. I even wrote a poem about it, haha!

I did this a gazillion years ago... At least 4. So blame anything ugly on that! My favorite thing about this one is the coloring. Most of the pictures I've seen of Tek interpret "rose" as "really bright pink". But I like this color better.
